Rome, the Eternal City, preserves important remnants from antiquity to tragic stories from its Jewish Quarter. Overall, it is a city with so much past and history that will continually surprise you.
On our Free Tour, we will explore the most important remnants of the city of Rome and its Jewish Quarter. Starting with the ruins of Ancient Rome, we will meet at the Circus Maximus, where chariot races were held, and from where we can also see the imperial palaces of the Palatine Hill. Afterwards, we will pass by the Mouth of Truth, a Roman funeral mask that hides an ancient legend. From there, we will head to the Forum Boarium, a Roman-era market that houses two temples, one dedicated to Hercules and the other to Portunus.
Before entering the Jewish Quarter, we must learn the history behind the partially preserved Theater of Marcelo and the church of San Nicola in Carcere. Through the ruins of the Portico of Octavia, we will finally reach the Jewish Quarter of Rome, which was key in 20th-century Rome. Finally, we will pass by the Roman Turtle Fountain and arrive at the Area Sacra of Largo Argentina, an archaeological site where the structure of some buildings is preserved, which was the scenario of an important historical event.
