Granada is well connected by road, rail and air, and once you are there almost the entire historic centre can be covered on foot. In this guide you will find every way of getting to the city and moving around it, with prices, timetables and frequencies.
Plane, bus, train and car
Airport 17 km from the centre
The airport is 17 km from Granada, to the north-west. You can reach the city by bus or by taxi. The bus is ALSA line 245: it has 11 stops around the centre of Granada, starts at the Palacio de Congresos and takes between 50 and 60 minutes.
The cheapest option
The bus is the slowest option, but also the cheapest one. ALSA is the company running these routes and there is a wide choice of timetables and connections.

Station right in the centre
This is without doubt one of the most convenient ways to reach Granada. Since 2019 Granada has had a direct AVE high-speed connection to Madrid, with a journey time of between 3h 20min and 3h 30min.
The station sits right in the centre of the city, close to hotels, the metro and several city bus stops.

Travelling by car gives you a lot of freedom to organise your trip. If you are planning to drive to Granada, these are the main access roads:
The downside of driving is how hard it is to park and the restricted traffic in the old town. Even so, Granada has plenty of car parks in the centre, as well as around the Neptuno shopping centre and the Science Park. You can check the car park options here.
City bus, metro and taxi
Lines C30, C31, C32 and C34
This is the best way to reach the main sights, such as the Albaicín and Sacromonte neighbourhoods, the Alhambra and other corners of the historic centre. Buses run roughly every 12 minutes on lines C30 and C31, every 10 minutes on the C32 and every 20 minutes on the C34.

You can buy your ticket directly on the bus. You can also get the Credibus card there: it has a €2 deposit that is refunded when you hand it back and brings each journey down to around €0.53, compared with €1.60 for a single ticket. With the discounted fares in force in 2026 it is by far the cheapest option.
Albolote – Armilla · 26 stops
Granada has a single metro line linking Albolote and Armilla via Maracena, crossing the city from north to south: 26 stops and 15.9 km covered in about 53 minutes end to end. The most central stop is Recogidas, and there is another one at the Nevada shopping centre.

Around 500 taxis in the city
This is one of the most comfortable and fastest ways to reach your destination, although not the cheapest. Granada has around 500 official taxis, so it is easy to find one available. The meter starts at €1.60 on the weekday daytime rate, with a minimum fare of €4.25 per journey.

Distances in the historic centre are short. Wear comfortable shoes: the hills and cobbled streets of the Albaicín take their toll.
The C30 line drops you at the top and saves you the climb up the Cuesta de Gomérez.
If you are staying more than a day it makes every journey cheaper and works across the whole city bus network.
Traffic is restricted and monitored by cameras. Leave the car in a city-centre car park and get around on foot or by bus.
