Would you like to discover some of the locations from the acclaimed series Outlander?
The famous series Outlander mainly takes place in Scotland, in the area of Inverness and the Highlands. The settings of the show have amazed millions of viewers, increasing interest in traveling across Scotland.
On this excursion from Edinburgh, you will visit some of the most important locations from the Outlander series. You will undertake a journey through time similar to that of the series protagonist, Claire Randall. The first stop on the tour will be Blackness Castle, a spectacular 15th-century fortification that recreates 'the fortress of Fort William' in the series. The next stop will be Midhope Castle, known in the series as Claire Randall's home or 'Lallybroch'. This place has become a pilgrimage site for fans of the series. After that, you will head to Linlithgow Palace, a royal residence in the 15th and 16th centuries. This location was used in the series to portray the supposed Wentworth Prison, utilizing its facade and corridors.
Without a doubt, the most popular stop on the tour is Callendar House. This mansion, with over two centuries of history, has undergone different renovations and is today a museum of Scottish history. You will take this opportunity to visit Doune, a picturesque village where you can eat and enjoy Doune Castle, one of the most famous in Scotland. The final stop of the tour will be Culross, located on the north shore of the Firth of Forth. This is where the settings for Cranesmuir were recreated, one of the most famous locations in Outlander.
