The Dutch countryside is one of the most visited places in the Netherlands. Windmills, picturesque villages, delicious cheeses, and spectacular lakes and landscapes make this region one of the most amazing in Europe. Rural Holland offers visitors a completely different perspective from what is seen in cities like Amsterdam.
Enjoy this excursion to Volendam, Marken, Edam, and the Zaanse Schans Windmills from Amsterdam. A comfortable opportunity with all the facilities to discover one of the most popular corners of Holland. The tour will start from Amsterdam, and you will head towards Zaanse Schans, where you can see the traditional 15th-century houses, as well as the popular windmills located along the Zaan river. You will also visit one of the most famous clog factories and one of Dutch cheese factories.
The next stop on the excursion will be Edam, an incredible city known worldwide for its cheeses and cheese shops, as well as its old town, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. Once you have explored the city, you will pass by the famous polders, lands reclaimed from the sea, and visit a cheese farm. From there, you will arrive at Volendam, one of the most well-known fishing villages in Holland. You will have free time to stroll and have lunch.
The last stop of the tour will be Marken, a spectacular peninsula located on the IJsselmeer lake. If you wish, you can take the ferry from Volendam to Marken (choosing this option during the booking process). After exploring the town with our guide, you will return to Amsterdam.
