Near Madrid, you will find these two monumental sites declared World Heritage and National Heritage, respectively, for their historical value. You will discover and understand the historical memory of Spain from two very distant eras through these two buildings.
On this excursion, you will visit El Escorial and the Valley of the Fallen with an expert guide and transportation included. The first stop will be the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, a palace complex commissioned by Philip II as a residence, church, and Royal Pantheon to demonstrate the power of the Spanish Empire to the world. With the help of the expert guide accompanying you, you will explore all the rooms of this vast monumental complex, including the Royal Pantheon, where all kings since Charles V are buried, the magnificent Royal Library, and the Basilica, the core of the complex.
The second stop of the tour will be the Valley of the Fallen, recently named Valle de Cuelgamuros. The imposing 150-meter Christian cross marks the entrance to this unique structure in honor of the victims of the Spanish Civil War. With the ticket, you can access the entire site and thanks to the guide, you will visit the interior of the basilica, a true architectural feat carved into the rock.
