The image of Budapest becomes eerie as night falls. Many of the famous Eastern European legends and other popular myths of the Hungarian people begin to take shape after sunset in the capital.

On this Free Tour, an expert guide will show you the darkest and most mythical side of Budapest. We will start our journey at Heroes' Square, where the tribal leaders and founding kings of the Hungarian people, the ancestors of Hungarians, are represented. We will learn about many of the legends surrounding this people, such as the Enchanted Deer, which connects its origin to that of the Huns and the barbarian Attila.

We will continue through City Park, where the famous Széchenyi bath and Vajdahunyad Castle are located. These places hold stories about the zodiac in Hungary and the knight king László. As we walk through this area, we will discover grim tales such as that of the serial killer Bela Kiss, the poisoners of Nagyrév, or the bloody methods of rejuvenation employed by Countess Báthory. Finally, at the gates of the castle, you will learn about the court narrator Anonymus and the legend of the Pauliners.
